The Truth Is Basically Simple
I often surprise myself with my own drawings. I drew an elegant lady with her hair up and a bright pink gown with matching earrings. There was no special reason for this subject matter … it just evolved. Now I like it more every time I look at it. I hope you feel it too.
As my life is affected by current events, my art is as well. I’ve been working over the past week with volunteers assisting the victims of the devastating wildfires in Northern California …

I drew this less than an hour before my brother called to tell me of our mother’s passing. My first thought was to call it “Death”, but I thought that too morbid so I called it “Aging”. Interesting the wavelength inspiration travels on. We’ll miss you Mom.
Clear cut, simple communication.
Funny … I like this one, but it rated very poorly on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter compared to the average. What do I know? I’m just the messenger.

Back in the late 60’s and early 70’s I did some rock art posters … wish I had done more. These days the posters I create a few times a year are for social causes. I firmly believe you’ve got to give back.
There is an orchestrated PR campaign underway to foment hate, division and fear … don’t fall prey to these dark puppeteers and their big media lackeys. Find something to like about everyone, find something to agree on … open the lines of communication – our greatest weapon against these merchants of chaos.
A Twinkle in the eye … imagination and creation … the essence of living.
An aptly named piece because it got the highest number of Instagram likes over the last week. I’m never really sure what will be “popular” and what will not be. It’s probably a good thing because, if I ever figured it out, I might be tempted to follow the formula. My art is my personal communication; if it connects with you, we’ve had a moment. When I was a college Art student I used to say I didn’t care what people think about it – I created it for myself … that’s silly; why would I bother to put it down on paper or canvas if I didn’t care to connect?
